Sounds From the Other City Festival

Poster featuring a colourful surreal illustration of a multi‑eyed figure with a large central eye on its forehead, set against a dark background with small symbols and shapes. Text on the poster reads: ‘Sounds From The Other City, Bank Holiday Sunday 3 May 2026, Chapel St & The Crescent, Salford.’ The design includes decorative graphics and event branding along the bottom.

Created for music lovers by music lovers.

For two decades Sounds From The Other City has been championing new music, local promoters and the off-kilter beauty of Salford, the oft-overlooked ‘other city’ to Manchester.

The unique model of SFTOC means that the festival curation is ever-evolving; each year the festival invites a selection of the region’s best promoters and selectors, give them a stage and ask them to book the artists that most excite them.

The festival has hosted early-day performances from artists as diverse as Black Country, New Road, The Ting Tings, Alabaster de Plume, Alt-J, The Ting Tings, BiPolar Sunshine, Hannah Peel, GoGo Penguin right through to 2017’s Mercury Music Prize winner Sampha, BBC Sound of 2018 nominee IAMDDB and 2019 Mercury Music Prize nominees, Black Midi.
