Salford Walking Festival 2026

Step into autumn and discover a different side of Salford with the Salford Walking Festival 2026.

From Saturday 5 September to Saturday 31 October, more than 40 walks and activities will take place across Salford’s parks, countryside and waterways.

Go looking for bats after dark, uncover stories from Salford’s past, photograph the changing seasons or enjoy a relaxed walk through one of the city’s beautiful green spaces.

This year’s programme includes:

  • family-friendly rambles and buggy walks
  • social and wellbeing walks
  • wildlife, birdwatching and fungi walks
  • bat walks after dark
  • heritage walks and guided local history
  • navigation sessions for beginners
  • longer countryside and riverside routes
  • Halloween trails during the October half-term

Walks range from short, gentle strolls to longer and more challenging routes, so whether you’re an experienced walker or simply fancy some fresh air, there’s something for you.

Find a walk

Download the Salford Walking Festival leaflet to explore the full programme, including dates, meeting points, walk lengths, facilities and accessibility information.

Please check the information for your chosen walk before attending and wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather. Some longer walks recommend bringing food and a drink.

Booking and costs

Many of the festival’s walks are free, although some activities have a small charge.

Some walks must be booked in advance, while others do not require booking. Please check the individual listing in the leaflet before attending.
