Discover Salford Lads’ Club: A must-visit for music fans

A room covered wall-to-ceiling with photos, notes, and memorabilia dedicated to The Smiths. A large mosaic portrait featuring famous musicians, including Noel and Liam Gallagher, is prominently displayed on one wall. The ceiling shows a large image of a soldier’s helmet with the words “MEAT IS MURDER.” Colorful sticky notes and framed photographs fill every available space, creating a dense, collage-like tribute. This is the Smiths Room at Salford Lads Club.

Music heritage is one of Salford’s biggest draws, and few places capture that better than Salford Lads and Girls Club. Famous worldwide thanks to The Smiths, the club is considered one of the UK’s top three most-visited music-related historical sites. Last month alone, it welcomed nearly 3,000 visitors from 42 countries who came for Morrissey related events!

With a new wave of Oasis fans heading to Heaton Park for upcoming gigs, the Lads and Girls Club is getting ready to welcome even more visitors. Inside, you’ll find plenty to explore, including a striking mosaic you might recognise from Manchester’s iconic Afflecks. It’s a fantastic stop for fans of local music history and a great photo opportunity.

Salford Lads’ Club usually opens on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 11am to 2pm, but to accommodate the busy period of Oasis fans being in the city-region, there’s an extra open day on Friday 18 July, 11am to 3pm. If you’re in town for the gigs, why not add a visit to your plans?

Head to the Lads and Girls Club and experience a piece of music history in Salford, and see why people from all over the world make the trip.
