Music at Salford University

Freeflow at the Old Pint Pot

The University of Salford boasts an impressive reputation in the music and performing arts department - as only to be expected from a university that boasts The Smiths' Jonny Marr as a visiting professor! To showcase the city's emerging and established talent, the university hosts a packed programme of recitals and concerts, from big band to classical quartets.

The regular Tuesday Midday Recitals take place, as you may expect, every Tuesday lunchtime in the impressive surroundings of Peel Hall and welcome visiting performers as well as the university's own range of young artists in residence - such as String Quartet in Residence and Jazz Artist in Residence.

The popular Freeflow and Jazz 610 take place at the Old Pint Pot pub and features live music by student rock & bands and jazz performers, while the band programme also features regular concerts by the university's own Big Band.
