Ordsall Hall in 1859Great Hall 1897

STOP PRESS! Exciting news has been announced by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Ordsall Hall has successfully passed Stage 2 of the bid process, meaning that the restoration money is definitely secured. This is fantastic news for the future of the hall - check back soon for more details of what this will mean for Ordsall Hall.

Ordsall Hall has witnessed many things throughout its long and illustrious 660 year history, but hundreds of years of history inevitably take their toll. Salford City Council and The Friends of Salford Museums have submitted a inspirational bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund to ensure Ordsall Hall's future is as colourful as its past.

Heritage Lottery Fund have already confirmed that Ordsall Hall has passed Stage 1 of the bid process, taking us an important step closer to acheiving our goal of restoring and revamping Salford's historic hall. We need your donations even more than ever now to make sure these dreams become a reality.

What's in the pipeline?

We want to restore and preserve the building itself, while also making sure as much of the hall as possible is open for visitors to see. Ordsall Hall will become the hub of its local community again as it was when the noble Tudor Radclyffe family were in residence.

Plans include:

  • restoration and conservation works to preserve the hall
  • access improvements to open up more of the hall to all, including new rooms never previously open to the public
  • a dedicated education room
  • beautiful landscaped garden, including orchard, nut walk, ornamental gardens and picnic area
  • improved interpretation & exciting interactive exhibitions
  • a full training and volunteer programme

Can you help?

We need your help to make these plans a reality - the overall cost for the project is £5.9 million. We are hoping for £5 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Salford City Council and other sources, leaving £900,000 to be raised through local community fundraising.

All donations from £1 to £1 million will be gratefully received and you can help make a real difference to saving Salford's historic gem. You can send donations to the hall or you can securely donate online through Just Giving.

Thank you!
