Country parks

Country park

Salford boasts two country parks - Clifton and Blackleach - green oases tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. They are havens for wildlife and provide open space for everyone to enjoy, ideal places to get away from it all and discover the countryside on your doorstep. There are woodlands, grasslands, ponds and lakes to explore and hidden remnants of Salford’s industrial past to discover. Miles of paths and trails, including Clifton's easy Lake Trail and longer Perimeter Trail mean you'll never be short of a new walk to discover.

Guided walks

Salford Ranger Team puts on an exciting and varied programme of activities throughout the year - not just at the country parks but also at other parks and open spaces in the city - including a series of walks throughout the year.

As well as regular health walks, Stepping Stone walks take place each month and are for for confident walkers looking for a greater challenge while still enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Salford's countryside.

Also new for 2008 are the Sundays IN Salford walks - regular ranger led walks exploring some of the city's hidden secrets.

For further information on all ranger-led guided walks please contact Annie Surtees, the Principal Parks Ranger, on 0161 607 1758 (mobile - 07966 316018) or email her at annie.surtees@salford.gov.uk.
