What is triathlon?

Salford BG Triathlon World Cup is an ITU World Cup race and attracts the very best triathletes in the world to take part.

But apart from the elite race for professionals there is also an age group race and this is open for anyone to take part in - indeed, novices and first timers are positively welcomed - there are NO entry qualifications.

Are you up to the challenge to take part in the UK's fastest growing sport?

Triathlon is the most demanding, challenging and thrilling sporting race around and if your a beginner to triathlon there is plenty of time to get in training for the next Salford Triathlon.

There is a choice of three categories to take part in - sprint, full distance and relay. The distances are as follows:

  • Sprint - swim 750 metres, bike 20km, run 5km
  • Full distance - swim 1500 metres, bike 40km, run 10km
  • Relay - swim 1500 metres, bike 40km, run 10km
    The relay consists of teams of 3 with one team member doing each discipline.
