Two Cities Boat Race

Thousands of supporters lined the Quays to cheer on the teams in this year's Two Cities Boat Race, but it was University of Manchester who came out victorious after a well fought battle between the two university sides. Local born actor Robert Powell was in the crowd who watched a full day of races including the morning's fun-packed dragon boat races. Entertainment was provided by drummers and cheerleading squads as well as a fly over by a Lancaster Bomber!
It wasn't all bad news for Salford though as Fern Cotteril won the Women's Single Scull race and a team from Salford University's Arts, Media and Social Sciences faculty won the dragon boat race final.
