The University of Salford

The University of Salford has a rich history stretching back to 1896, but the future's even brighter.
Here are some facts and figures about the UK's most up and coming university:

  • The University of Salford is closer to the centre of Manchester than Manchester University!
  • £150 million is being invested into new facilities as part of a massive regeneration scheme for the city
  • Salford was ranked in the top third of UK universities for research
  • Salford is ranked in the top 10 in the UK for teaching
  • Over 93% of postgraduate students go onto employment or further study within six months of graduating
  • Famous alumni include Peter Kay, L S Lowry, Sir Ben Kingsley, rugby star Ieuan Evans, comedian Jason Manford and Robert Powell.

There's plenty to keep the visitor to the city entertained too - as well as admiring the architecture of some of the oldest campus buildings, including Peel Hall and Maxwell Hall, you can take in a show at the Robert Powell Theatre, view the latest exhibitions at the Chapman Gallery or listen to one of many classical concerts and recitals as part of the Arts Unit programme of events.
