Ordsall Hall

Ordsall Hall restoration update!

Restored Ordsall Hall rooftopOrdsall Hall's restoration is progressing well....
Underneath the scaffolding and huge tarpaulin transformations are taking place in all area of the building.

The fourteenth century roof beams have been uncovered, and internal and external timber frames and beams have been stripped of their Victorian coating to expose their natural oak colouring and patterns. In other areas carvings have been meticulously restored and conserved to reveal intricate details not seen for an age.

New stairwells have been fitted, previously unseen rooms are being made accessible and medieval stained glass panels have been carefully restored to their former glory ready to take their place once again in the wall.

Outside, the Hall's ancient moat is being marked out and the trees and lavender hedges have been planted. Whilst the Hall is closed for restoration, staff and volunteers are working on many exciting projects inspired by the Hall and surrounding areas. There are also many other activities happening this year. If you like more information please contact the Ordsall Hall team on 0161 921 2173 or e-mail ordsall.hall@salford.gov.uk.
