Ordsall Hall's two year closure
Ordsall Hall is now closed for two years until 2011. Whilst it is sad that this magnificent building has to close for a while, there are exciting times ahead as there are plans in place to make it a bigger and better visitor experience for all the family. Find out more on the Extraordinary Ordsall Development Programme pages.
In the interim of Ordsall Hall being closed Ordsall Hall staff are providing outreach sessions to Schools and Community Groups. Please see below link for more details.

Ordsall Alive! is a comprehensive service for schools who visit Ordsall Hall. Your group will be welcomed by guides, dressed in Elizabethan clothes, with the enthusiasm, knowledge and experience to help children discover everything there is to know about the Tudors. Be it living habits, working lives, royal connections, travel, customs or battles ... it can all be explored at Ordsall Hall.
We have developed a hands-on experience where children are encouraged to feel, discuss and explore various Tudor objects that are no longer around today. Children are not simply given a list of facts - but will be encouraged to discover, investigate, try out and experience a whole range of learning opportunities that can only be experienced in the hall's unique setting.
Please note that the Tudor Live! sessions are not currently running due to the restoration at Ordsall Hall but will re-commence in Easter 2011 once the Hall reopens. Whilst the Hall is closed Ordsall Hall staff are providing outreach sessions to schools and community groups.
In brief:
Ordsall Alive! is a full day workshop developed for schools studying the Tudors. Sessions run from 10am to 3pm and include facilities for children to eat packed lunches in the hall. Shorter workshops may also be booked, but only one workshop will take place each day. We strongly recommend that only one class attend each workshop. To comply with fire regulations we have a statutory maximum of 40 pupils on site at any one time.
Booking information
Workshops are subsidised by Salford City Council and, at just £2.50 per pupil, offer great value for money. We make a minimum charge of £50 per day for smaller classes of less than 23 pupils, but teachers and helpers come along free. Payment is made on the day.
If you are a Salford school you can come to the hall for just £2.00 per pupil, with a minimum charge of £50.
All you need to do to reserve your workshop is to book online here or phone us directly on 0161 872 0251 during opening hours (Mon-Fri 10am-4pm). You need to book several months in advance because of the popularity of Ordsall Alive! Workshops.
Our Ordsall Hall Education Pack contains all the information you need to plan your day at the hall.
