Open water swims

Open Water Swim Training Session - Saturday August 23 2008

TriCentral will be running an Open Water Swim Training Day on Saturday August 23 at Salford Watersports Centre for novice and intermediate open water swimmers.

Cost is £25 per person*

Sessions wll consist of a 45 minute lecture and a 45 minute swim, and will run from 9am in groups of 25. You will be allocated your session time after you have registered.

There are 100 places available and registration is on a first come, first served basis.

This is a great way for those new to open water swimming to experience it in a structured environment with experienced coaches. Whether you are participating in a single open water swim or a triathlete, these sessions will be highly beneficial.

All coaching will be done by Level 3 qualified British Triathlon coaches and will be led by Rob Harvey, who has extensive open water coaching experience.

The sessions will cover the following:

  • Getting accustomed to open water
  • Sighting
  • Breathing
  • Turning
  • Open water starts
  • Drafting

There will be changing and shower facilities available throughout the day and hot drinks will also be supplied.

Parking is available nearby at the Lowry Outlet Mall.

Sandals or flip flops are also recommended as the swim sessions will be taking place in Dock 9 of Salford Quays, which is a 3 minute walk from the Watersports Centre and is where the Salford Triathlon swim takes place.

Full water and land safety cover will be in place throughout the sessions.
