Mikron is unique, small and perfectly formed theatre company who were chosen to write a specially commissioned play, Hell and High Water to celebrate the 250th anniversary. Their team of four actor musicians perform anywhere and everywhere; in pub gardens, art centres, church halls, aboard ships and restaurants to name but a few.
For 39 years, this unique professional theatre company has been carrying musical drama by boat to audiences throughout the national waterways system and extensively in the North of England.
Founded in 1963 and based in London performing new work at small theatre venues, Mikron took to the water in 1972 to tour on the waterways of England by narrowboat, performing at canal and riverside pubs, in village halls and community centres, and at festivals and rallies.
Mikron is the only professional theatre company that tours the length and breadth of the system including the Grand Union Canal, Regents Canal, River Thames, Oxford Canal, Worcester and Birmingham, Kennet and Avon, Lower Avon, River Severn, Kennet and Avon and Shropshire Union to name but a few!
