Creative, digital and new media

Set to become home to the second largest creative hub in Europe and the first purpose built "Media City" in the UK, Salford's creative, digital and new media sector is set to become one of the city's fastest growing areas in the future.

Almost 5,000 people are already employed in the sector, (a growth of approximately 20% in the last ten years), and this figure is set to rise with a 14% increase predicted in the communications and computer related field alone.

Businesses locating in Salford certainly have access to talent to support their requirements with more than 6,000 students studying on creative and media-related courses at any one time at the region's five universities and another 6,000 taking computer-related courses.

A wide spectrum of businesses including Hot Bed PressCarbon Creative (Salford's Green Business Award runner up for 2012), The Lowry arts centre and, of course, the BBC have already chosen Salford as their location. Many famous faces have been seen in Salford at our media hotspots including Justin Timberlake at Blueprint Studios and Sir Ben Kingsley at Salford Arts Theatre.
