Business Matters IN Salford

The City Mayor of Salford invited business leaders around the table to discuss how they can drive the city's economic recovery to create much needed jobs, and continue the city's regeneration.

Two summits were held in the summer and early autumn, with the first being aimed at larger businesses and the second aimed at SMEs. Both summits produced lively debates centred around key questions posed by the City Mayor, focusing in particular on how the council can best support local businesses.

Alan Purvis from Mettler Toledo Safeline, Salford Business of the Year 2012, spoke at the summit about his company's success in Salford. Alan said: "We feel we're one of Salford's big success stories. Our company was set up in the city 22 years ago and we now employ 250 people in Salford. We don't need to be based here but we want to stay part of the city. I agree with the City Mayor that we all need to work collaboratively if we are to continue to be competitive and grow our business."

The business feedback captured has been grouped under 9 key themes. We are already responding to a number of these and as we continue to make progress on the various themes we will provide updates here. To find out more or to get involved contact the Business and Funding team.
