Apprenticeships in Salford

The Apprenticeships in Salford Campaign forms part of Salford City Council's joint delivery plan for Apprenticeships and is being introduced to help support local employers to create and develop up to 60 new Apprenticeship opportunities for residents in the city.

The campaign will run from the beginning of December 2011 and a range of different incentives have been made available to encourage employers to take on new apprentices. These include:

• Incentives of up to £1500 to support employers who take on an apprentice aged 16 to 24 years old
• Incentives of £2000 to support employers who take on an apprentice aged 25 years old or over

Short-term work placements via the Future Jobs programme will also be available for some employers who are keen to 'trial' a candidate before committing to an Apprenticeship. A full range of recruitment and business support will also be available to employers as part of the campaign by agencies working with, or as part of Salford City Council.

Future Jobs and Apprenticeships incentives can be used independently or together to support the costs of employing a local resident, either at entry level or an apprentice.
