Salford has six golf courses to drive, chip, putt or even hack your way around, perfect for a leisurely game, improving your handicap or spoiling a good walk, whichever your preference.
Marriott Worsley Park Hotel & Country Club
The Marriott Worsley Park Hotel & Country Club course, is the city’s premier course and a great challenge for all abilities. With 18 holes, over 6,611yards with a course par of 71 it is a well designed, picturesque course of challenge tour standard. There’s also a driving range and putting green to get in some pre-round practice, and is open to hotel guests and walk-in players alike.
Boysnope Park Golf Course
Boysnope Park Golf Course, Barton Moss offers a high standard 18 hole, par 72 parkland course with 24 Bay floodlit driving range, plus a new clubhouse. It plays over undulating landscape with natural ponds, attractive water features and large contoured greens. It’s specially turfed winter greens and the excellent drainage on the course allows play all year round.
Ellesmere Golf Club
Ellesmere Golf Club is a members club course measuring 6238 yards and is a testing par 70 providing some interesting holes through mature trees. There’s also great practice facilities, with a 330 yard practice ground, pitching area, chipping / bunker green, practice net and putting green. The clubhouse hosts a restaurant, function room, snooker room, TV. lounge, as well as both separate Ladies and Gents lounges and a well stocked shop.
Worsley Golf Club
Historic Worsley Golf Club plays over 6235 yards and a par 71 through picturesque countryside settings close to the Bridgewater Canal. This members club has a long tradition stretching back to 1894 and is still very popular with locals. The club house features dining rooms, a pro shop and a balcony overlooking the 18th green.
Swinton Park Golf Club
The 6519 yard, par 73 course at Swinton Park Golf Club, offers a high standard of golf. The quality of the course is evident in the presentation, with hundreds of mature trees, new water features and pathways. The new clubhouse caters for all types of functions, whilst the well stocked pro shop caters to all players’ needs.
Brackley Golf Club
Brackley Golf Club is a municipal course particularly popular with beginners and youngsters. The 6726 yard par 73 course has expansive, wide fairways and some great holes to perfect your swing on.
Oceanico Group Pro-Am Challenge
If you need a few tips from the pros then don’t miss the Oceanico Group Pro-Am Challenge event as the city hosts the Challenge Tour every year at The Marriott Worsley Park Hotel & Country Club course. This free event is a must for all golfers with fantastic spectator action and even the chance to play alongside the pros in the pro-am challenge. This year's event ran from 28 May to 1 June 2008.
