Discover Salford - a festive city

Salford is jam packed with things to do over the festive season, wrap up warm and head out across the city. Sip a warm mulled wine, visit The Quays and enjoy the delights of the Magical Makers Market, be dazzled by Lightwaves the UK's biggest outdoor digital light festival or book a ticket to Elf - The Musical at The Lowry Theatre.

Experience something new this December and take a water taxi across the Manchester Ship Canal from outside The Alchemist. This follows the Jingle Bell Jog which took place on Sunday 3 December.

Meet Father Christmas in his magical grotto or grab your favourite teddy and listen to winter tales with a cup of hot chocolate at Ordsall Hall. Enjoy a Festive Afternoon Tea or listen to Monton Voices Choir at Salford Museum & Art Gallery.

If you feel like getting out into the fresh air you could explore the heritage, countryside and rural areas of Salford with The Salford Trail a long distance walk of about 50 miles divided into a series of ten walks. You can also walk along the banks of the Bridgewater Canal, where every stretch of the waterway has a story to tell.

If you're planning on visiting the city for more than a day then make sure to look at our list of great hotels to make your festive stay an enjoyable one.
