The Quays is the place to head for to enjoy a memorable journey along the world famous canal - one of the last great engineering feats of the industrial revolution. The cruise along the Manchester Ship Canal takes you from Salford Quays to Wirral's Seacombe and Woodside terminal on the Mersey. This leisurely cruise is a must for anyone who has an interest in industrial heritage and a pair of sea legs.

Operated by Mersey Ferries, the fascinating Manchester Ship Canal Cruise is a truly unrivalled journey along the 35-mile stretch of canal. It includes a lively commentary giving a revealing insight into the facts, the history and the dramas of one of Britain's major waterways.The cruises take in spectacular scenery leaving its passengers with an awe-inspiring sense of how its construction shaped the city of Manchester and the Northwest of England.There are also excellent facilities on board, including a licensed bar and refreshments and snacks available throughout the cruise.

This six-hour cruise departs from  Salford Quays on selected dates from April to October 2012. Many of the cruises include a stop-over in Liverpool before buses collect and return you to your starting point.
