Community Activities

As well as a whole year of exciting events, the following activities are taking place to commemorate the 250th anniversary:

April onwards
Girl Guiding UK Association Bridgewater Canal Challenge badge
Design and manufacture of a specially designed Girl Guide badge and one accompanying heritage boat trip. The guides have to complete a number of tasks related to the heritage of the Bridgewater canal to be awarded the badge.

Caked in History self guided walk
A circular walk from Eccles to Monton,Worsley and Patricroft linking the heritage of the Bridgewater Canal and the railway.To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the opening of the Bridgewater Canal in Salford, this new heritage trail will take you on a tour of the sights of this historic area and teach you interesting facts about the links between the canal and the railways.
