International singing legend Chris de Burgh will be the star attraction at the BBC Proms in the Park in Salford next month.
Chris, who has sold more than 45 million records during a prodigious career, will be on stage with the award winning BBC Philharmonic at Buile Hill Park on Saturday 12 September.
Immortalised by his classic ballad The Lady in Red, Chris spoke of his excitement at topping a line-up of mouth-watering talent in Salford.
“I’m a great fan of classical music and am thrilled to be taking part. This is a great event”.
Since he released his first album more than 30 years ago, Chris’ evocative song-writing and powerful stage performances have won him a huge worldwide following.
The Lady in Red, recorded in 1986, went to number one in 25 countries including the UK and has now sold over 8 million copies.
For Chris’ fans the Proms will be the last chance to see him perform in this country before he jets off on a hectic European tour.
