Triathlon is one of the hardest sports to trrain for. The three disciplines - swimming, cycling and running - put such different neuromuscular demands on the body because the muscular and nervous systems work in contrasting ways in different sports. All three disciplines require lots of endurance but on top op that

  • swimming requires strength and flexibility in the upper body, especially the shoulders and back
  • cycling requires a lot of power in the quads, especially for sprinting and climbing
  • running requires strength in the hamnstrings and calves

Having said that, with a lot of dedication and hard work you can improve at all three sports.I've been training hard - read my blogs to see what I've been up to.
