Community Projects

Incredible Edible Salford

The organisation aims at bringing together Education, Community and Business in order to create cohesion by growing our own food. We have had three project days so far where we had removed all rubbish, metal and stone and have laid the area with a weed suppressing membrane. Three raised beds were built on our third project day leaving the area ready for planting up for the summer growing season. Our wish is to encourage the people of Salford in their interaction with the environment and making it a positive experience

Friends of Eccles - aims to promote practical environmental enhancement works at Eccles Station and raise awareness of the 'green transport plans', rail travel and attractions of the station area benefits. Freccles purpose is also to encourage the community, especially schools and young people, to get involved. We're also working with local business to encourage their staff and customers to use the station so to sponsor environmental enhancements. Some of our current priorities are a train every 30 minutes throughout the day and an hourly Sunday service for Patricroft.

Eccles Community Hall Organisation - Established in 2010 ECHO is an independent community group that aims to obtain funds for the refurbishment of the ballroom, balcony, stage and adjacent areas in order to provide high quality facilities to the local community. Main aims: encourage community ownership, reflect local needs, promote, develop and sustain the hall, work with local and regional organisations, cherish the old town hall's place in local history.

Eccles Community Art Gallery

Established in 2008 - aims to provide exhibition space for local artists at nominal cost. The organization acts as a springboard for young/new artists to develop their artistic career. It aims also to increase the footfall into the town centre. Any media and imaginable subject could be covered. tHe public has the chance to interact directly with the artists and artists could receive direct feedback too.

Eccles Rotary Club

The organization does not only provide financial and volunteer support but also works to urge support from other public and private sector partners. We try to ensure that our membership reflects the diversity of business and professional life in Eccles.
